Visitor Information Centres
The Rathdowney Visitor Information Centre is located on the Mt Lindesay Highway in Rathdowney.
This accredited visitor information centre offers a one stop shop for travel information including maps, brochures, and itineraries. Staffed by skilled and knowledgeable locals, the Rathdowney Visitor Information Centre can provide advice on the things to see, things to do and where to eat. Discuss with the friendly staff your travel plans.
Rich in history, the Rathdowney Museum was opened in November 1984 and its volunteers from the surrounding districts have proudly collated the centres collection. This includes displays of artefacts, pictorial displays and historical records of events and family histories. Over the years, an extensive collection of historical buildings from the district have been added.
The centre also encourages visitors and locals to enjoy the beautiful park that surrounds it; welcoming all to enjoy the markets offered on weekends.
The centre also offers a ‘Driver Reviver’ stop 7 days per week from 9am to 2pm.
We are proud of our diverse communities within the region. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the many lands within the Scenic Rim - the Mununjali in the Centre, the Wangerriburra to the East, the Ugarapul to the West, and all those of the Yugambeh and Jagera language groups. We pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
