Feeling a little thirsty for a top drop? Only an hours drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, take your tastebuds on a tour of sips and tipples at these award-winning wineries, distilleries, and breweries beckoning from all corners of the Scenic Rim.

Breweries

Scenic Rim Brewery
After 8 years, this iconic Mt Alford venue closed its doors in late 2024 but rest assured, the Scenic Rim Brewery continues to brew their legendary larrikin beers that all have names that will make you smile – there’s the Shazza, Digga’s, Fat Man, Giddy Gout and the PharQue, and the superb Ginger Extra Dry. So get your pint glass ready and visit their online store, or be sure to keep an eye out for them at regular Scenic Rim markets and events such as the Towri Growers Market and Summer Land Camels markets.

Fortitude Brewing Co.
What started as the dream of two high school mates has now frothed into a fully-fledged brewery and microbrewery perched on the top of Tamborine Mountain: Fortitude Brewing Co. For craft beer lovers, you have your work cut out sampling their 15 taps of Fortitude and Noisy Minor beers (all brewed on-site). And peckish visitors will be happy with a variety of made-to-order pizzas to munch on while working their way through a tasting paddle or two. For a real treat, sip while you sway to the tunes of local musicians on weekends strumming from their spacious beer garden.

The Kennel, Boxer Brewing Co
On Tamborine Mountain, beer enthusiasts will love Boxer Brewing Co’s The Kennel, a tap room and sports bar, where you can choose from 24 of their own carefully crafted BXR beers along with a variety of offerings from local breweries and ciders on tap—there’s something for everyone. This pet-friendly venue welcomes everyone, including your furry four-legged companions, who can relax with you on the outdoor deck. Nestled next to their partner business, Witches Falls Winery, it’s the ideal place to unwind with perfectly chilled drinks—from the first sip to the last gulp.

Distilleries

Tamborine Mountain Distillery
Perched atop Tamborine Mountain in a Tudor-style historic building, Australia’s most awarded distillery and liqueur brand welcomes visitors to try masterfully distilled spirits, cocktails and drinks. Tamborine Mountain Distillery, Queensland’s oldest craft distillery, opens its doors daily, offering a range of experiences from tasting sessions to distilling classes and distillery tours. Visit to try world-renowned spirits like their apricot brandy (named the Brandy of the Year in the 2023 London Spirits Competition), chat with passionate head distiller Gordon and learn the process behind producing quality liqueurs.

Cauldron Estate and Distillery
Head to Cauldron Estate and Distillery on Tamborine Mountain for days full of sunshine, incredible views and their award-winning Five To Five gin. Stop in for a cocktail or two, or book a table to enjoy your favourite tipple with a picnic or, on the weekends, live music and a bite to eat from on-site food trucks. If you’re feeling creative, be sure to book in for a gin making or blending class to learn as you sip and then take home your own limited-edition bottle of gin.

LoBorn
Raise your spirits at LoBorn, a stylish new distillery on Tamborine Mountain specialising in impeccably crafted Australian aperitifs. LoBorn puts a modern Australian spin on the classic European Amaro by combining old Italian distilling traditions with locally grown botanicals. Join a guided tasting and cocktail session where you’ll learn to make a refreshing spritz while sipping a  stunning negroni, G&T, spritz, martini or Amaro sour.

Wineries

Witches Falls Winery
A haven for wine lovers in the heart of Tamborine Mountain, at Witches Falls Winery you’ll find seriously good wines at their cellar door nestled amongst a vineyard, lush gardens and rainforest. Here you can learn how they meticulously craft the wines onsite using both traditional and modern techniques and strive for minimal intervention. Whether you crave a crisp white, sophisticated red or an unusual varietal, for the ultimate experience, book a wine tasting to sample six wines guided by a knowledgeable tasting host and end your visit with a vineyard wander on cloud wine. Or, if you prefer to share a bottle and grazing board, relax at a picnic table or spread a picnic rug amongst the vines and soak up the sunshine and good vibes while you sip.

Barney Creek Vineyard
Nestled at the base of the impressive Mount Barney, at the much-loved, family-run Barney Creek Vineyard and Cottages you’ll find an impressive range of boutique wines made from the grapevines carefully nurtured onsite. Be sure to taste their varieties include Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Grenache and Mourvedre and try their multi-award winning, Petit Verdot Shiraz ‘Charis’ when you stop by the cellar door, open every weekend from the first weekend in April to the last weekend in August. Better yet, for the ultimate serene country escape, book in to one of their beautifully appointed (and dog-friendly!) cabins and homesteads and settle on the deck or in front of the fire with a bottle of their finest.

Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard
Wine-down at Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard where over 2,000 vines produce delicious reds, creating the perfect sips for sunny days, including a unique Chambourcin Rose, a top Shiraz and a Tawny Fortified that graces the table at Government House for official functions. Join passionate wine maker, David at the cellar door for a relaxed and informal wine tasting outdoors under the magnificent jacaranda tree or undercover in more inclement weather. With five acres of lush lawns, bring a picnic to savour your wine on site; available by the bottle or glass. We guarantee you’ll leave with lasting memories and new appreciation for wine making and the local district.

The Overflow Estate 1895
Nestled the edge of Lake Wyaralong, what was once a historic grazing property has been transformed into the stylish winery; The Overflow Estate 1895. Taste the commitment to craftmanship in every bottle with the vineyard’s hands-on approach providing only the most genuine home-grown offerings. Make sure to book a table at their magnificent onsite restaurant to pair your glass with local flavours. With a fine restaurant with tables overlooking the tranquil lake, the relaxed and natural ambience is just as tasteful as your glass of fine wine.

Kooroomba Vineyard
Nestled in the magnificent Fassifern Valley, you’ll feel like you are in Tuscany or the south of France at Kooroomba Vineyard, where the award-winning cellar door and restaurant overlook a six-hectare vineyard and breathtaking lavender fields, framed by layers of Scenic Rim mountains in the distance. The perfect setting for any celebration or simply a relaxing day in the country, here you’ll find a wide selection of wines including  Chardonnay, Shiraz, Cabernet, Sauvignon Blanc and a Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir. Make sure to stay for a meal in the Kooroomba Kitchen and savour the delights of their delicious Modern Australian cuisine lovingly created with local produce by talented local chef Elliot Platz.

O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards
Perfectly situated amongst vineyard in a beautiful green valley, the multi-award winning, family-owned O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards is the idyllic destination for a day of swirling and sipping their artisan wines at the cellar door, and grabbing a delicious picnic basket or gourmet pizzas to enjoy by the Canungra Creek before you head next door to say hello to the resident locals; the alpacas at Mountview Alpaca Farm and take an alpaca for a stroll through the vineyard.

Sarabah Estate Vineyard
For good food and wine with magic views, Sarabah Estate Vineyard is the perfect destination.  Winner of a 2023 AGFG Reader’s Choice award, here you’ll want to stop in for a tasting flight and stay on for lunch at the Chalet Bistro, have an alfresco wood-fired pizza or picnic with a bottle (or two!) of their organic shiraz, and hanging out with the friendly farm animals and local alpacas. After cheersing your last glass, save the drive home and book in for the night in the nearby Greenlee Cottages to wake up in a rustic cottage surrounded by the lush greenery of the onsite macadamia farm. 

Cedar Creek Estate
From arriving up the tree-lined driveway past the vineyard, to walking into their oak-themed cellar doors, at , Cedar Creek Estate at Tamborine Mountain, the scenic is set for a wine tasting of a range of red, white and fortified wines produced by Cedar Creek Estate Vineyard and Winery. Stay on for a meal at the adjacent restaurant on the deck overlooking a lake sanctuary for native wildlife and take a short stroll through the rainforest for a fascinating tour of the on-site Glow-worm Cave.

Albert River Wines
Immerse yourself in history and country grandeur at Albert River Wines. With a cellar door open everyday in the historic Auchenflower House, the grand former home to three Queensland Premiers, here you can sip wines or settle in for lunch on weekends on the wide colonial verandah overlooking their sweeping Jacaranda-lined driveway and undulating fields of vines with views to Tamborine Mountain.
